Cast Bullet Postal Matches
Try your cast bullet skills by entering a postal match.
There are matches for:
- Handguns
- Lever rifles
- Break-action rifles/handguns
- Military rifles and carbines
- All regular CBA rifle classes.
You send for targets, shoot them on your own according to the rules, and send them in for scoring.
You don’t have to cast the bullets yourself. Some of our members will give you some bullets to try out and instructions for how to load and shoot them. Recoil and muzzle blast is moderate and you will have a lot of fun shooting them!
Do you have a .32 Rimfire and would like to shoot it?
We have a solution! Reloadable 32 Rimfires!
Rifle and Handgun Matches
The Club hosts at least one registered Cast Bullet Association benchrest and military match each month from May through September. The great news is that anyone can join in on the fun! All you need is to shoot cast lead-alloy bullets. We offer a variety of classes to help keep things fair and fun for everyone, so you can find the right fit for your skill level. Come out and enjoy the camaraderie and excitement of our matches!
Regular Benchrest Match Classifications
- Hunter – 9.5lb, stock production
- Production – 12lb, stock production
- Heavy – 14lb, no other restrictions
- Unrestricted Rifle – No restrictions except shooter has to lift rifle onto bench without any help
- Long Range Handgun – 7.5lb, 15″ barrel
- Unrestricted Handgun – Same as Unrestricted Rifle
The national record in Hunter class 100 yard 10-shot group was set at BHSC in 2018.
The national record in Hunter class 200 yard 5-shot group was set at BHSC in 2019.
The national record 100 yard Big Bore 40-shot Standing was set at BHSC in 2018.
Military Benchrest Match Classifications
- Issue – As Issued
- Modified Iron – Sight mods allowed
- Modified Scope – 6X maximum power, but a variable set at 6X is allowed.
- Big Bore – Military Issue 39 Caliber and greater.
Shooters also have the option to use the offhand position. In fact, the national record for 40 shots standing in Big Bore was set right here at BHSC in 2018, and another standing Big Bore score national record followed in 2019!
If you have a “sporterized” military rifle, it might be eligible for the mil-mod and production classes, as long as the barrel maintains its original contour. There are a few other restrictions regarding the stock, but overall, the rules are pretty generous. Those old military rifles can really perform well, even with a less-than-perfect bore. So, if you have one, why not give it a try?

Member Feature
Check out one of our club members at the 2018 CBA National Matches in Kansas City! They brought home seven medals, including a Gold for the 10-shot group Grand Aggregate in the Production Class. This award was earned by averaging two groups at 100 yards and two groups at 200 yards with a Remington 700 LTR in .223 Rem. While most competitors use a .30 caliber rifle, there were actually two .223s in the mix that year.
Fast forward to 2019, and this same member returned from the National Matches with nine medals, snagging 2nd place in both the Production Class and the “Little Bore” match!
Here are two 100-yard groups shot with a .30BR and cast bullets from a Heavy class rifle. This was the very first load tried in a new rifle, so we’re expecting even better results next time!
